Fix Dings Now Before They Worsen

Are you driving around with a dinged-up windshield? The good news is that bull’s eyes, star breaks, combo breaks and cracks are often repairable if they’re addressed before the damage spreads, saving the cost of full replacement. Often, your insurance will cover most or all of the cost of these repairs and they can be done in under 20 minutes without compromising the integrity of the window.

What Can We Fix?

If the damaged area is about the size of a quarter or smaller and depending on the break, we can extract trapped air from the break, which is what is causing the darkened area. Once the air is removed, we’ll fill the cavity with resin and cure it with ultra violet light. People often wait too long to call us, making a quick repair impossible, so don’t wait! There are some things you can do to reduce the likelihood you’ll need full glass replacement:

• Dirt, debris and moisture make dings and cracks more difficult to fix. Cover the damaged areas as soon as possible to keep the area clean and ensure a lasting repair.
• Make an appointment at Gary’s Auto Glass and start repairs as soon as possible. The earlier damage is addressed, the less likely it is to spread. Hitting road bumps, excessive wind and hot/cold cycles will only make the situation worse.
• Glass repairs must be done inside when it’s cold, windy or rainy outside. It’s a good idea to store the vehicle inside overnight before repairs are done.
• If a cool weather outdoor repair cannot be avoided, warm the glass up by parking with the damaged area facing the sun.
